Built in 1845, the Taylor-Grady House represents the high point of the classic Greek Revival architectural style for which Athens is famous. As the only extant boyhood home of Henry Grady, who achieved nationwide fame in the 1880’s as the ‘Spokesman of the New South’, the House has been designated Athens’ only National Historic Landmark. In 1966 the Athens Junior Assembly, forerunner of the modern Junior League of Athens, became involved in the restoration of the home – and it has been their headquarters ever since.
The Taylor-Grady House is available to be privately rented for weddings, receptions, dinners, and special events. It also serves as a house museum on weekdays. Go to http://www.taylorgradyhouse.com.
If you are interested in renting the Taylor-Grady House, please email the Junior League of Athens at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 706-549-8688. We are currently booking for event dates.
