Volunteer Partner Agencies

The Junior League of Athens provides hundreds of hours of community service annually to area charitable organizations. The League is proud to partner with the following agencies in 2019-20:

The Junior League of Athens provides assistance to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia through food recovery, grocery bag stuffing for the Brown Bag Program, and health literacy and awareness efforts. Work toward ending hunger will affect change as part of an overall community effort to end poverty.

JLA provides volunteers to assist in the Books For Keeps warehouse to sort books by age group to be given to children during book distributions, or by category and genre for Books for Keeps’ annual book sale.

JLA is proud to partner with Extra Special People with their after school cooking classes! ESP empowers children with developmental disabilities to cultivate skills, confidence, and relationships through recreational therapy, community involvement, and the arts. With the support of our community, ESP gives participants and their families acceptance, hope, and the opportunity to thrive. The League will help further literacy efforts by helping ESP participants read food labels and follow recipes.

JLA provides support for Athens Clarke County Leisure Services Department to implement literacy-based events

Junior League of Athens is proud to partner with Learning Ally to provide volunteer checkers to listen to audio files to ensure high quality digital recordings for Learning Ally Members.

JLA provides volunteers to assist U-Lead Athens in providing meals, a sense of community, and support for immigrants seeking education and the American Dream.

JLA provides volunteers to assist the Diaper Bank in collecting, sorting, and packaging diapers and feminine hygiene products for distribution. Projects such as these address our signature focus of literacy by addressing the basic needs in the community so that education can be an area of growth.
